Joshua Rashon Streeter is a director and playwright of color working in Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) / Theatre for the Very Young (TVY)—birth through young adults. His artistic practice centers on the belief that young people deserve bold, imaginative, and rigorously crafted theatrical experiences that honor their intellect, agency, and lived realities.
As a theatre-maker, Streeter develops and directs new work that is both aesthetically vibrant and pedagogically grounded. His projects foreground process as a site of discovery—where rehearsal becomes a space for inquiry, collaboration, and transformation. Drawing on his background in drama education and critical pedagogy, he creates rehearsal rooms that invite artists and participants to engage deeply with story, embodiment, and collective meaning-making.
He is available for directing projects, commissioned work, artistic residencies, and collaborative artistic partnerships in Theatre for Young Audiences, Theatre for the Very Young, and beyond. He welcomes opportunities to develop new work with organizations and artists who are committed to creating imaginative, equity-centered experiences for young people and their communities.
