Fall 2018

High School Playwriting CompETITION

We are looking for short plays written by high school students that address stories of being on the edge. What does on the edge mean to you?  Is it the edge of a decision, a relationship, an awakening?  Or something else?

Send us your scripts by January 5, 2019.  Once submitted, a jury of JMU student readers will select four scripts for a public reading.  Each play will be assigned a student director and actors from the JMU school of Theatre and Dance in preparation for a reading at the Theatre in Our Schools Conference on March 16, 2019!

We welcome scripts representing a range of global perspectives of race, culture, language, disability, gender, nationality, and political worldview.
